‘We’ll see you at your 3:20am gig!’
Said no one ever.
3:20am is certainly an ungodly hour to be up - much less to be up and performing Rachmaninov, Piazzolla and Kreisler in the majestic St Paul’s Cathedral to a full audience. This happened on 20 Feb this year, in the middle of Melbourne’s White Night 2016.
Needless to say, 3:20am was also why we pounced on the chance to perform - potentially to an unassuming White Night crowd on the look out for the next great art/light installation.
Curiosity got the better of us, of course. We were glad to have cellist Michael Ryan with us on short notice for this gig - for Tim was away for the weekend. And we were pleasantly surprised that there was more than just our parents in the crowd.
Thank you Melbourne - for being great sports to an unexpected twist in your White Night adventure. #creativelycurious
