Jonathon Coco

Musician | Double Bassist

Projects: ‘The Other Side’, Nov 2014.

Jonathon began studying the double bass at age 10 as a member of the string program at his school. He chose the double bass because of its low and beautiful tone but its ability to blend or affect the orchestra is what truly bound him and his instrument together. Regarded as one of Australia’s future talents, Jon already plays casually with some of Australia’s professional orchestra’s including The Australian Concert Orchestra, The Australian Philharmonic and The Melbourne Symphony Orchestra.

Jon started studying with Damien Eckersley in 2011 while commencing his bachelor of music. He now Studies at the Australian National Academy of Music and has performed for some of the most highly regarded bass players in the world including Tim Dunin (former 1st principle bass, Vienna Philharmonic), Max Mcbride (former principle bass, Australian Chamber Orchestra) and Jiri Valentia (Principle bass, Czech Philharmonic). After completing his study at the Academy, Jon plans to move to Germany to continue study and hopefully eventually win an orchestral job.
