Pianist and accordionist, Jo is a graduate of Queensland Conservatorium and VCA. She has specialised on accordion in the performance of traditional French chanson, gypsy swing and musette with her trio Belle Musette, and with Django Rhythm and as pianist has focused on jazz piano, and collaborated with various ensembles, including 9 yrs. as pianist with one of Melbourne’s longest running big bands, ”Downbeat Big Band”.

She is active both locally and internationally, with roles spanning composer, accompanist and musical director. Performances highlights include Hong Kong Fringe Festival; Live en Aout (Noumea); Pinnacles Jazz Festival (Brisbane) Eltham Jazz Festival; Bennett’s Lane Jazz Club; Piano Vache, Paris (with acclaimed guitarist Rodolphe Rafalli and his trio); La Locandiera, Paris; Manchester Lane; Melbourne Recital Centre; Dizzys Jazz Club; The Boite; The Famous Spiegeltent (Melbourne Festival); Café 303, BMW Edge; Moomba Festival and Glen Eira Winter Music Series.

More recent highlights include recording for VCA graduate film “Bloodtrust” (composer/engineer Anthony Norris); 2 week season of “Death by Soprano”, Melbourne Fringe Festival, Melba Spiegeltent (as accompanist/performer); “Play Me, I’m Yours”, Arts Centre, 2014 (performer); Musical Director for Kids Thrive shows, September/October 2014 (directors Andrea Rieniets/Ande Lemon); Melbourne Spring Fashion Festival (accordionist) – 1st Runway Show, Melbourne Town Hall (2013), as well as being awarded the Margaret Schofield accompaniment prize in the heats of the National Liederfest Competition, 2014.
