Jasper Ly joined anon. for the Australian Premiere of Robin Holloway’s Oboe Trio and famed Martinu Oboe Quartet as part of ‘New Identity’ in Dec 2013.

Beginning his oboe studies at age 13, Jasper is a Bachelor of Music (Honours) graduate from the University of Melbourne, studying with Jeffrey Crellin – Principal Oboist of the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra.

In October 2013 Jasper performed the Strauss Oboe Concerto with the University of Melbourne Orchestra at the Melbourne Recital Centre. He has over the last 3 years been performing with the same orchestra as First Oboe, working with an array of international conductors, including Benjamin Northey. Additional to this, he often performs with smaller Melbourne opera companies and regularly performs with the Darwin Symphony Orchestra as Guest First Oboe.

Highlights in Jasper’s orchestral career so far include a performance of Richard Strauss’ ‘Eine Alpensinfonie’ in Brisbane, with the Australian Youth Orchestra under Simone Young (2012), and a five-week tour of China, where he took part in a production of Georges Bizet’s ‘Carmen’, with the Australian Concert Orchestra (2012).
